Stocken Camping

So, what do we do at Stocken Camping?

We invest in sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives and continuously review which parts of the business can be replaced. Collaboration with and sponsorship of local associations’ and companies’ events is just as natural as both building relationships with and contracting local and regional contractors for new construction and maintenance work.

The Food Store

The basic range of food in our Handlar’n store is supplemented, or replaced, with climate-smart alternatives, and we are happy to bring in products from local producers. The rest of the range follows the same guidelines.

On the Campsite

For example:

All cleaning products used in the business have been replaced with environmentally friendly equivalents. In the laundry rooms, all washing machines have automatic self-dosing to avoid overdosing, and detergents and fabric softeners are both environmentally friendly and allergy-safe.

The showers in the service buildings are low-flush and chargeable, and all sinks are equipped with touchless, low-flush taps to reduce water consumption.

The lighting in the service buildings has presence sensors, and all older luminaires, including those in the rental cabins, have been replaced with LED lighting.

Large cottages and mobile homes have been fitted with air source heat pumps, and old radiators have been removed. In the smaller cottages, radiators have thermostats with a maximum set heat that cannot be exceeded. Old windows and doors are also being replaced to avoid energy waste.

Ahead of the 2023 season, work began to replace the old fossil heating systems in the larger service buildings. Service Building 1 has been running for three years, and in 2026 Service Building 2 will have an air/water heating system installed, also supplemented with solar collectors to heat water.

Sorting of Waste

We have zero tolerance for litter on the campsite and our beaches, and we provide plenty of trash bins on site. In our garbage yards, it is possible to sort waste into different categories. We also have a deposit machine for Swedish PET bottles and soda cans (“pant” in Swedish) next to the store. Adjacent to the campsite is the municipality’s environmental station, which we also refer our guests to.

Machinery

Since the campsite is long and stretched, we use electric cars (golf carts) and cycle or walk in our daily activities. The company car and all motorized hand tools are electrically powered. Since the 2025 season, we also have a self-propelled electric lawn mower, which now completely handles some of our lawn areas.

Electric Car Charging

The campsite has public charging stations for electric cars. Currently, there are four, with the possibility of doubling the number in the future.

Social Sustainability

Currently, five people are employed full-time. We also offer, through seasonal employment, opportunities for young people to gain a good start in working life in a safe and secure environment. We have an agreement with Visita (the trade and employers’ organisation for the Swedish hospitality industry) to ensure the safety of our employees. We do not accept victimisation or harassment in any form – with us, everyone is equal.

Guest Safety

At the campsite, we constantly work with guest safety in mind. Especially during the high season, we monitor and ensure that all vehicles are correctly parked to maintain safe distances. Fire extinguishers, inspected annually, are available throughout the campsite and are marked on area maps on our information boards as well as in our brochure, which all guests receive upon check-in. We also have a defibrillator at the reception and provide CPR training for all employees.

Tourism

On our website, www.stockencamping.se, and in our Info-point cabin, we provide tips and information about activities and attractions both locally and regionally.
