Hällsnäs

At Hällsnäs, we offer products and services that have been produced with the least possible environmental impact. We are a Nordic Swan Eco-labelled facility and work constantly to reduce our environmental impact by improving our work in energy, water, and other resource consumption, chemical, and waste management. We are members of Svenska Möte (Swedish Meetings) and also meet their requirements.

We have clear procedures and expectations for all employees so that they feel involved and enabled to take responsibility for the environment. We prioritise suppliers who are environmentally certified and who work actively with sustainability.

Our treatment plant was installed in 2017 and meets the stringent environmental requirements that apply here at Långenäs. The treatment plant is built around a modular system of fiberglass tanks sufficient for the hotel’s capacity. The biological treatment takes place in the heart of the treatment plant, the bioreactor. It uses something called fixed film technology where the bacteria that break down the pollution live on a carrier material. The bacteria are given optimal oxygenation through air diffusers in the tank. The advantages of the fixed film technology include more stable operation, very low sludge escape and a protected bacterial strain.

We review energy use and record consumption every month. We use low-energy and LED lamps. Our energy efficiency has been improved by replacing fans and control systems.

The toilets are water saving and the tap water is high-quality, filtered, and environmentally friendly. We use special nozzles for taps and showers to reduce consumption.

We sort our waste as far as possible; food waste, glass, paper (paper/newspapers), paper packaging (cardboard/corrugated cardboard), hard plastic packaging, metal packaging, light bulbs, and hazardous waste such as batteries.

Cleaning and washing agents in daily use are eco-labelled, as are toilet and household paper, paper towels and other paper products. We have controlled dosing of cleaning agents and our laundry is ISO and Nordic Swan Eco-labelled. Our letters, printer paper and other paper in our offices are eco-labelled, and we turn off our equipment when it is not in use.

We offer vegetarian, organic, and locally produced options on our menu. Single-use packaging is being phased out as far as possible. We inform, train, and develop our team to increase knowledge and commitment in environmental work, and we tell our guests about this. We also suggest ways our guests can support and contribute to our environmental work during their stay.
