Norrqvarn Hotell & Konferens
At Norrqvarn Hotel & Conference we have a saying that goes; ’no one can do everything – but everyone can do something’. So, we have collected some of what we do and how we strive to develop our sustainability work.
Since 2012 our restaurant has been certified by Taste of West Sweden. The certification is a guarantee for you as a guest that you will get the best possible raw materials, produced and refined in West Sweden. And our pantry in West Sweden just grows and grows.
We always have vegetarian and vegan options on our menus, and also encourage our guests at the Christmas buffet to take smaller portions and replenish more often. At buffets and breakfast we use smaller plates to reduce waste. We choose environmentally friendly single use items and always use organic and fairtrade when it comes to coffee and tea.
It’s a no-brainer to use eco-labelled cleaning products. We also ask that guests hang up their towels for reuse if they are staying with us for several nights. When it comes to bed linen and towels, we have chosen a supplier that keeps to the environmental requirements we place on laundry and transport. Our shampoo, soap and toilet paper are eco-labeled, and we sort our waste; everything from glass, paper and food waste to plastic, cardboard, aluminum, batteries and light bulbs.
For our conference bookings we offer Swan-labeled pads and pens only to those who need them. Water is bought bottled but served from the tap, and we serve locally produced juices. Our conference packages have sustainable options such as vegetarian lunch and raw-food candy.
We are currently planning for solar cells and to update our lighting. We are careful to turn off lights where they are not needed and use eco-labeled office supplies. We also work to reduce our use of consumables.
Our rooms, lounge and dining room were decorated with recycled furniture and materials.
